Qudus Onikeku blends Yoruba traditions and urban cultures in a vibrant show that explores birth, death and rebirth across the world. through a captivating fusion of afrobeat, hip-hop and electro.
Inspired Through Yoruba philosophy, the Nigerian choreographer and dancer offers an indomitable triptych on coming into the world, death and rebirth. An interdisciplinary creation, Re: Incarnation combines ancestral traditions and urban cultures to reconcile genres, from Afrobeat to hip-hop and electro. On stage, ten young performers and two musicians reappropriate the energy of the sixties and seventies to renew it and offer an irresistible expression. Nourished by the groove of Lagos, a lagoon city on the edge of the Atlantic, and by six years of research on the body's memory, Qudus Onikeku, guest &àgrave; the Venice Biennale in 2017, creates a spectacle as breathtaking as it is ambitious, where socio-political struggles fade away in the face of a quasi-mystical experience that invites you to change. rethink the world outside of all linearity.
