Autumn 2021: Bashir and Amina, like many other refugees, have booked a flight to Minsk with their Syrian family in order to cross the so-called "green border" to Poland from there. They were lured with propaganda from Belarus, where they were promised an easy crossing to Europe. But the promises turn out to be lies, and the promise becomes a trap.
Together with thousands of other people, the family is stuck in the swampy no man's land between Poland and Belarus. Here the paths of the Syrian family cross with Jan, a Polish border guard, and Julia, who is part of an activist group and helps refugees.
With "Green Border", Oscar-nominated filmmaker Agnieszka Holland takes a ruthless look at the humanitarian catastrophe at Europe's external border.
