Tom has lived in a remote village at the northernmost point of Scotland for fifty years. But now the 90-year-old is setting off on the long journey to Land's End, near the southernmost point of England, his birthplace - all by public bus. His beloved wife has died and he has promised to bring her ashes back to where they met and fell in love. With the necessary amount of openness, courage and confidence, he defies his own vulnerability. He has never known the diverse, modern Great Britain before and it has many adventures and many enriching encounters in store for him. "The Last Bus" is a heartwarming road movie and reminds the audience that everyone is on a journey in one way or another...
The British character actor Timothy Spall is known for his versatile and adaptable acting skills. He is just as at home in front of the camera as he is on the stage and impresses in films such as "Mr. Turner" and "The King's Speech". In "The Last Bus," Spall plays Tom, who is over 25 years older, and captures the various facets of a frail but strong-willed man with a lot of intuition.
