Festive old town streets, Christmas market and concerts.
Every year during Advent, the city of St.Gallen is transformed into a sea of almost 700 stars. They sparkle and dance in a light choreography specially devised for the Swiss Star City and bathe the old town of St. Gallen with the UNESCO World Heritage Abbey District in a magical light. The specially decorated Christmas tree on the monastery square, in the middle of the monastery district, gives the Star City an additional festive Christmas shine.
As places of silence and reflection, the cathedral and St. Lawrence Church offer peaceful oases of calm in the middle of the old town.
