Giovanna Nicola, Martina and Daniele Melis in Noranco TI (2023, Switzerland)
The artists Giovanna Nicola, Martina and Daniele Melis take on an inspiring task: they give discarded objects an artistic makeover. The objects all come from the Noranco disposal center in Lugano TI. The manager Monica Bellini spent two weeks there collecting scrap and all kinds of possible and impossible objects for the two artists. Giovanna, Martina and Daniele visit Monica to select the objects that are suitable for their upcycling projects.
Giovanna Nicola from Roveredo GR, an experienced window dresser, selects two objects. Through her creative processing, she upgrades a mirror with mosaic stones and turns an old drawing folder into a unique "junk journal".
Martina and Daniele Melis from Riva San Vitale TI run a vintage shop together and specialize in selling vintage items. They choose two side tables, which they restore as needed.
