SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE is the moving film adaptation of "Rupees! Rupees!" (published in 2005 by Kiepenheuer & Witsch, international title "Q & A") by Vikas Swarup. The screenplay was written by Simon Beaufoy, who was nominated for an Oscar for the screenplay for "The Full Monty" (1997).
Danny Boyle deliberately chose new talents when casting his main characters: Dev Patel and Freida Pinto gained their first acting experience in the TV sector. With Anil Kapoor as the "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" show host, Boyle was able to win over one of the best-known and most successful Bollywood actors.
