Die elfjährige Keria lebt mit ihrem Vater in einem bäuerlichen Vorort einer Stadt in der Provinz Sarawak auf der Insel Borneo. Sie ist ein urbanes Mädchen, das stylische Haarschnitte und Hip-Hop-Musik liebt. Ihre Mutter starb, als sie noch sehr klein war. Keria hat keine Erinnerung mehr an sie, aber ihr Vater hat ihr erzählt, dass sie von einem Panther gefressen wurde.
