Der Anden-Explorer (2022, D, Marita Neher)
The Ferrocarril del Sur in the Andes is one of the highest railway lines in the world. From the university town of Cusco, the tracks lead to the ruins of Machu Picchu or across Lake Titicaca to Arequipa. On its way to what is said to be the most beautiful city in Peru, the train winds its way up to a height of 4,470 meters. During the rainy season, masses of rubble and mud can pose a danger to the tracks.
