Towards Trans­for­ma­ti­onThe 33.3 % At­ti­tu­de. Zu­rich­Book pre­sen­ta­ti­on and pa­nel dis­cus­sion

Many metropolitan areas in Europe are facing the pressure of urban transformation. In the last twenty years, Zurich has facilitated its growth largely through total demolition and new construction. But what alternatives are there for building on what already exists and making use of its potential? Over the course of three years, the 33.3 % design studio at the ETH Zurich Chair of Jan De Vylder investigated these questions together with students and guests. Various stakeholders and contexts were examined, including real estate developments, public buildings, cooperative housing and single-family neighbourhoods within the city. The 33.3 % attitude offers a way of working that does not strive for a 100 % solution, but rather seeks a partial yet precise intervention that bridges the gap between old and new. 33.3 % is more than just a numbers game – it focuses on the economy of means, both in Zurich and beyond.The event will take place in English / Die Veranstaltung findet in Englisch statt.Download Flyer
