Zucchini - that is the nickname of a little nine-year-old boy who is faced with a new life after the sudden death of his mother. The caring policeman Raymond takes him to Madame Papineau's home, where he grows up with other children and looks for his place in society. Living together is not always easy, because the cheeky Simon, the worried Béatrice, the shy Alice, the somewhat disheveled Jujube and the dreamy Ahmed have already experienced a lot. But they pull themselves together and give each other support on the way to steering their lives in a calmer direction. One day the brave Camille joins them, and Zucchini is a little bit in love for the first time in his life: Camille is simply wonderful! But her aunt is after the care allowance and plans to take Camille with her. Can Zucchini and his friends prevent the small group from being torn apart?
