In chapters such as “Confronting the Homeland,” “Writing and Letters,” and “Clothing and Body,” the similarities and differences between the three artists become clear.
As a summer exhibition, the Hans Erni Museum is showing the impressive graphic work of the two Catalans for the first time in a long time in the show "Miró, Erni, Tàpies - World on Paper" and is comparing it with the equally important work of Hans Erni from central Switzerland. The graphic work has a great significance in the oeuvre of both Joan Miró and Antoni Tàpies as well as in that of Hans Erni.
The title of the exhibition "World on Paper" has a twofold meaning: on the one hand, it refers to the concrete reference to reality in the artists' work in the form of objects such as clothing, wooden finds or newspaper clippings. On the other hand, it addresses the historical reference to time of their work. The political commitment of Mirô and Tàpies is a close parallel to the life and work of Hans Erni.
In chapters such as "Dealing with the Homeland", "Writing and Letters" or "Clothing and Body", the similarities and differences between the three artists become clear.
A catalogue and a varied programme of events accompany the exhibition.
