In the 1970s, center forward Gerd Müller broke all of the Bundesliga's goal records, shot his FC Bayern Munich from title to title and made Germany world champions in 1974. But the glaring publicity took its toll on Müller. He struggled with alcoholism. After his playing days, he became striker and goalkeeping coach at FC Bayern. Until fate struck again with the diagnosis of Alzheimer's.
